Theft from vehicle probed in Tamaqua

Tamaqua police are investigating a theft from a motor vehicle reported to the department at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, Ashley Melendez, of Girardville, told officers she parked her 1999 Hyundai on Mountain Avenue on Monday night. When she returned to the car she discovered that a Pioneer compact disc player and a Garmin GPS were missing. Total value of the items was listed as $300.

She admitted leaving the car unlocked. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call police at 668-6100.
