Christina Slack, of Albrightsville, recently placed third overall at a state gymnastic competition and qualified for regionals.
The Jim Thorpe High School freshman has been doing gymnastics since she could walk. Currently, the 15-year old is in Level Nine at the Northeast Gymnastic Academy located in Wilkes-Barre.
The state competition was hosted by Girls' Co-Op at Freedom High School in Bethlehem.
Slack finished in first-place with a score of 9.35 on the bars, finished second-place on the vault with a score of 9.5 and then ended up with a third-place finish on the floor exercises with a score of 9.175.
Overall, Slack scored a 35.875 to become the third-place all-around state champion.
Regionals will be held in a week and a half at Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Maryland. Slack hopes to do well enough to place again overall and qualify to go to the national level of competition.
