April 2, 1963 Charlie Perich claims first place in three events to help the Palmerton track team open their season with an 82-13 Lehigh Valley League victory over Whitehall. Perich wins the 100, 220 and broad jump. Billy Heydt adds two firsts for the Bombers, coached by Don Holland, taking the shot put and discus. Other firsts for Palmerton come from Wayne Heintzleman (mile), Bill Carazo (high jump), Charlie Romig (pole vault) and Bobitz (440).
