Driver facing DUI after crash

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, along Oak St., in the village of Sheppton, East Union Township.

State police at Frackville said Brian M. Furedi Jr., 21, of Sheppton, was driving a 2006 Nissan 350Z eastbound when the vehicle went off the road and struck a telephone pole on the south berm.

Troopers said Furedi was found to be under the influence and was taken to the barracks for a breath test. The test showed he was over the legal limit of .08 percent blood/alcohol content. He will be charged with DUI.

Damages were severe to the Nissan, troopers added.
