A Lehighton woman was cited for retail theft for an incident in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said troopers were called to Kinsley's Market, SR209, in Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township, about 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 5, for a report of a person stopped for theft.

Troopers said Penny Kay Pollard, 52, allegedly placed items in her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying for them after paying for other items she had in a shopping cart.

She was issued a citation and released.
