Juveniles charged
Charges were filed against five area juveniles for various incidents that happened around Summit Hill over the last few months.
According to borough police, on Dec. 29, 2010, at 2:23 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near a residence. Upon investigation, officers observed the vehicle drive by the place in question. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old Summit Hill female, but she did not immediately stop.
After making the stop the driver provided officers with a false name. It was also observed that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage.
Charges were filed following a juvenile petition with the Carbon County Juvenile Probation office. They include: false identification to law enforcement, underage consumption of alcoholic beverages, minor prohibited from operating vehicle with any alcohol in their system, driver required to be licensed, stop sign violation, one-way roadway violation, fleeing and attempting to elude police, and driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).
On Feb. 11, police received a report from the Panther Valley Middle School of an 11-year-old student from Coaldale possessing a knife on school property. A juvenile referral was filed at the county juvenile probation office for possession of a weapon on school property.
On March 2, police received a report of a 16-year-old female from Lansford who was out of control at the high school. Reports show the girl was giving another person a hard time. She was charged with disorderly conduct.
On March 8, police responded to the high school for a report of a disturbance. It was learned that a 17-year-old male from Summit Hill punched another student. He was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct.
On March 16, police received a report of an assault at the high school. An investigation revealed that a 13-year-old female from Lansford assaulted another female juvenile. A juvenile referral was filed with juvenile probation for simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
