April 9, 1996 The South team sweeps the North in the annual Schuylkill County All-Star Classic. Local boys on the North squad, who dropped a 118-82 decision, include Panther Valley's Tom Vermillion (eight points, four rebounds) and Mike Shefcyk (five points, four boards), and Tamaqua's Chris Ferry (four rebounds). The North girls, coached by Marian's Paul Brutto and assisted by Tamaqua's Jeff Onushco and Marian assistant Harry Murray, fall by a 67-64 score. The Fillies' Molly Koshuta collects 14 points and three boards. Other locals on the team were PV's Jen Miller and Marian's Jenni Albright.
