Save the judges' stand at the grove

Dear Editor:

The judges' stand in the Community Grove ought to be saved for historic, cultural, and esthetic reasons. Surely the borough of Lehighton has enough handymen and weekend carpenters who would be able to restore (or reconstruct) the stand at less cost than the received bid.

Here is a quick test on preservation. Name a preserved historic structure that people now wish had been torn down. It is difficult for me to think of one. Now name a destroyed historic structure that people wish had been saved. I can think of quite a few.
