Lady Raiders get track win

The Tamaqua girls track team and the Northwestern soccer team picked up victories on Wednesday.

Tamaqua and North Schuylkill split their Schuylkill League meet.

The Spartans won the boys meet, 101-49, while the Lady Raiders posted a 97-53 win in the girls meet.

Kayla Hope led the Lady Raiders with first-place finishes in the 200, long and triple jumps. Maria Streisel (100M, high jump), Amber Carroll (1600M, 3200M), Christine Streisel (javelin, shot put) also added muliple firsts.

The Raiders' Zach Lakitsky won the 100 and 200 meters and the long jump.

GIRLS SOCCER

Northwestern-Salisbury

Northwestern blanked Salisbury, 2-0 for a Colonial League victory.

The Tigers' Katie Hughes scored her eighth goal of the season. Anna Fricchione was credited with the assist.

Emily Iobst added the other Northwestern (6-2, 5-2) score.

Tigers' keeper Kelly Boyd finished with five saves to post the shutout win.

Jamie Edwards scored a first-half goal helped the Cardinals (5-2, 4-1) pick up a 1-0 victory over Pleasant Valley (5-3, 4-1) in a Mountain Valley Conference match.
