Monroe man facing assault charge

A Monroe County man is facing a charge of aggravated assault and other criminal counts following an incident that occurred about 6:32 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, in the area of HC1 Box 1383 in Blakeslee and along SR115 in Tunkhannock Township.

Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the suspect as Christopher Gulliksen, 42, of Blakeslee.

Police gave the following account of what happened. At the time and date stated officers were dispatched to the Gulliksen's firewood cutting business to meet with him concerning trespassing. Upon arrival officers met Tammy Mokshefski, 45, of Blakeslee. She provided proof she had a right to be on the property and was identified as Gulliksen's ex-girlfriend. She also provided an expired protection from abuse order.

Police then went to Gulliksen's home a distance down the road but he was not home. As police returned to where Mokshefski had been they heard screams and observed Gulliksen chasing Mokshefski with a baseball bat onto SR115.

Gulliksen was confronted by police and failed to comply with verbal commands while holding the bat. Police said they had to use a taser in order to gain Gulliksen's compliance.

He was taken into custody and charged, He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment, police added.
