Tamaqua woman facing charges
A Tamaqua woman has been charged in connection with a one vehicle accident in the borough on March 23.
Jane Dolores Hanzarik, 51, of 201 E. Broad St., was driving north in a red Oldsmobile coupe on Pine Street at 1 a.m. when her vehicle struck a Chevrolet Cobalt, owned by Florence Inama, of 222 E. Broad St. The Chevrolet had been parked near the Tamaqua Rescue Squad building.
Hanzarik then reportedly backed up and struck the Majestic House Apartment Building. She then allegedly drove across the street and drove over two parking meters owned by the borough. The Oldsmobile finally stopped after hitting a parked Ford Windstar minivan owned by Tanya Schank of East Union St.
Blood tests were taken at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. Those results indicate a blood alcohol content of .17 percent, more than double the legal limit of .08. Hanzarik was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, hit and run of unattended property, reckless driving and careless driving.
