Carbon crash

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred about 5:20 p.m. on April 8 along SR248 in Parryville, Carbon County.

Troopers said Karen M. Ringer, 46, of Lehighton, turned onto 248 and continued eastbound in the left lane. Matthew R. Werley, 20, of Walnutport, was traveling eastbound in the left lane.

Werley proceeded to change lanes in an attempt to avoid a collision while Ringer started to drift from the passing lane into the driving lane, troopers said.

Werley was unable to avoid Ringer and his 2004 Dodge Neon struck Ringer's 2003 Volkswagen.

Ringer and a 16-year-old female passenger from Lehighton and Werley were injured, troopers said, and taken to the Blue Mountain Health Systems Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton.

Passengers with Werley, Michael A. Manfredi, 18, and a 16-year-old female, both from Nesquehoning, were not injured.

Troopers cited Ringer for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Troopers also reported investigating a crash that occurred on April 11 along Dotters Corner Road in Polk Township, Monroe County, involving a school bus. Troopers did not indicate what time.

Troopers said Eileen M. Thierry, 52, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2007 Thomas built school bus northbound in the area of Hell Hollow Road when she lost control for unknown reasons.

The bus traveled northeast off the northbound lane causing the right front of the bus to strike an embankment.

After striking the embankment the bus continued north for about 110-feet before overturning onto its left side and coming to rest.

Thierry and passengers Jean M. Catania, 43, of Kunkletown, and Kai Raczek, 16, of Kunkletown, were injured and taken by West End ambulance to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. Other passengers Cody Weiss, 15, Brandon Lee, 17, both of Effort, James Buncie, 16, of Whitehall, and John Carlo Morea, 12, of Kunkletown, were all not injured.
