Nolehi gets softball, baseball wins
Northern Lehigh picked up wins in both softball and baseballa ction on Friday.
SOFTBALL
Tamaqua-Panther Valley
Tamaqua's Jordan Nowacki singled in the fifth, watched as her Raiders batted around, and came back up to smack a grand slam en route to a 15-0 win over Panther Valley.
The Raiders' Angelica Heisler (three singles), Brianna Boyer (two singles), Lauren Mateyak (two singles) and Emily Zancofsky (two singles) each had multiple hits.
Ashtin Walck had two of the Panthers' four hits. She picked up two singles.

Marian-Nativity
Kayla Knight limited Nativity to two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and helped lead Marian to a 12-2 win over the Hilltoppers.
Knight helped her own cause by collecting three hits, including a double. Shannon Skotek, Nina Curran and Ashley Donlin had multiple hits as well. Curran also drove in three runs, while Donlin knocked in two.

Stroudsburg-Lehighton
Stroudsburg belted three homers and went on to defeat Lehighton in MVC play, 11-0.
Kayla Humphreys, Meg O'Malley and Katherine Liedberg all went deep for the Mounties (8-4, 5-1) in their five-inning victory. Liedberg finished the day 3-for-4.
Ashley Otto accounted for two of Lehighton's three hits. Fellow Indian Kaitlin Green had the other.
Lehighton drops to 2-7 (1-5).

Northern Lehigh pounded out 11 runs on 11 hits and knocked off Colonial League foe Palmerton in five innings, 11-1.
Maggie Lear took the hill for the Lady Bulldogs (8-4, 7-3) and struck out two on her way to earning the win. She was also 2-for-3 at the dish with two RBIs and a run scored. Teammates Kristi Seiler (2-for-2, 2 RBIs, 2 BB), Amber Kibler (3-for-3) and Payton Marunich (2-for-3, 3B, RBI, 3 Rs) also had multiple hits.
Palmerton (1-10, 0-10) was led by Sierra Miller. Miller had two hits and scored the team's only run.

Northern Lehigh-Bangor
Northern Lehigh pulled away from Bangor for a 9-4 Colonial League victory.
Matt Gill led the Bulldogs with three RBIs. Kyle Schomp and Chad Mazepa knocked in runs as well.
Eric Snyder went the distance for Northern Lehigh on the mound, striking out seven en route to earning the win.

Catasauqua-Palmerton
Joe Taves struck out eight for Catasauqua and led the Roughies to a 6-3 Colonial League victory over Palmerton.
Aaron Cook and Tanner Gutekunst each had two hits for the Bombers (1-9, 1-9). Cook had a triple, while Gutekunst recorded a RBI.
Fellow Bomber Rich Steigerwalt's only hit of the day was a big one, as he connected for a solo homer in the sixth.

Tri-Valley-Weatherly
Tri-Valley beat up on Weatherly, 22-0, in Schuylkill League action.
Tanner Troutman had two home runs for the Bulldogs, including a two-run dinger in the first and a three-run shot in the second. He finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
Weatherly had three singles on the day thanks to Brett Stalone, Michael Baade and Mark Miller.

Stroudsburg-Lehighton
Lehighton scored eight runs in the third inning and never looked back, as the Indians topped the Mounties 13-7 in Mountain Valley Conference baseball action.
The Indians (7-2, 4-1) scored eight runs on six hits in the bottom of the third and were aided by four Stroudsburg errors. Tyler Harris, Jacen Nalesnik and Alex Storm each drove in two runs for the Indians. Jager Ziegenfuss also knocked in a run.
Zach Sochinsky paced Stroudsburg (6-6, 5-2) by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Katie Hughes scored four goals to lead Northwestern to an 11-1 Colonial League win over Palmerton
Teammate Meghan Weber also posted a hat trick, as she scored twice in the first half and once in the second. Nicole Lach, Katie Hallingstad, Trista Cunningham and Anna Fricchione all added a goal.
Palmerton's lone goal was tallied by Kylee Turko.
The Tigers had a 21-4 advantage in shots.
Lehighton-PM West
Pocono Mountain West scored twice in each half and held off Lehighton down the stretch to win, 4-3, in a Mountain Valley Conference game.
Sophomore Amanda Acabou had two goals for the Indians, while teammate Jordyn Homyak had the other.
TENNIS
Tamaqua-Hazleton
Hazleton topped Tamaqua in non-league action, 4-1.
The Raiders's Gonzalo Hernandez Cascante remained perfect on the season at 15-0 with yet another victory. Hernandez Cascante actually dropped the first 5-7, but came back to win the next two sets in dominating fashion 6-1, 6-1.
