Graduates cum laude from Delaware Valley

Shauna Bartholomew, daughter of Mike and Elaine Bartholomew of Palmerton, graduated cum laude with honors from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown in May.

While in the honors program, she traveled to Berlin and Leipzig, Germany on spring break in 2008 to study history and culture. As well as being in the honors program, Bartholomew was the recipient of the Delaware Valley College's Alumni Scholarship in both her junior and senior years, the Glick Liberal Arts Scholarship, the Presidential Scholarship, the Pa. Science Technology Scholarship and was named to Who's Who among college students in 2010.

While at Del Val, she participated in the Equestrian Team, the Delaware Valley Community Concert Band and the Delaware Valley Jazz Band.

She is a 2007 graduate of Palmerton High School.

Bartholomew was named to the dean's list for six consecutive semesters and graduated with a degree in pre-professional biology. She was honored to play the "Star-Spangled Banner" on the flugelhorn as a soloist at her graduation ceremony. She will be attending Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in August to pursue a doctorate in veterinary medicine.

Off campus while attending college, she worked at Fire Creek, a private dressage barn in Newton; part-time for Poco West Veterinary Clinic in Jim Thorpe; in the pet department at Country Junction; and at Blue Mountain Ski Area.

Bartholomew is the granddaughter of Helen and the late John Pancoe of Hellertown and the granddaughter of the late Llewelyn and Jean Bartholomew also of Hellertown.
