August 10, 1983 Tamaqua clinches the Panther Valley Little League tournament championship by posting a 5-2 victory over Franklin Township. Lance Hafer picks up the pitching win, allowing six hits while striking out 12 batters. Chad Barron collects two hits and scores two runs for the winners. Mike Hromyak adds an RBI single while Randy Clemson doubles and scores a run.
