Area couple celebrates golden anniversary
John and Dorothy Rarick will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday.
They were married on Aug. 21, 1961 in Claysburg, Pa., by the Rev. Joe Steinert.
Mrs. Rarick is the former Dorothy Evans, daughter of the late Thomas and Olive Evans of Coaldale. Mr. Rarick is the son of Margaret Willing and the late John W. Rarick of Tamaqua.
Mrs. Rarick worked at Bright's department store, A&P supermarket in Tamaqua and for Lehigh Asphalt/Glasgow Contracting in Andreas for 27 years. Her husband worked at Parish Steel, Reading, for 33 years.
Their early life was spent in Tamaqua and the past 20 years has been spent at their present home in West Penn Township.
They enjoy traveling and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The couple has two children, John Rarick and his wife Tamara of Morgantown, Pa.; and Thomas Rarick and his wife Amanda of Slatington, Pa.
They have two grandchildren, Christina Rosenberger and Aaron Rarick; and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Brooke and Benjamin Rosenberger.
