Stephen Petrock, the son of Mike Petrock of Coaldale and Lori Reinert of Bethlehem, recently graduated from Lafayette College during the school's 176th commencement exercises. He double majored and received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering and a bachelor of arts in international affairs.

While at Lafayette, Petrock played ice hockey and baseball; served as president of Delta Upsilon fraternity; was inducted into Delta Phi Alpha, the national German Honor Society; served as co-leader of the Formula SAE racecar design team; was a member of Engineers Without Borders and participated in post-Katrina reconstruction of the ninth ward in New Orleans. He also spend half of his sophomore year studying abroad at Jacob's University in Bremen, Germany.

Upon graduation, Petrock accepted an engineering position with the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington D.C. The NRL is responsible for broadly-based multidisciplinary scientific research and advanced technological development programs in response to identified and anticipated Navy needs in the physical, engineering, space, and environmental sciences and also provides multidisciplinary support to Naval Warfare Centers. He has accepted a position in the NRL's Pulse Power Physics Division and is residing in Washington D.C.

Petrock is the grandson of Laura and the late Steve Petrock of Coaldale and Helen Correll of Tamaqua. He was a 2007 honor graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem.
