A Monroe County man was jailed on Saturday following a gun-point incident. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident occured in the 200 block of Third Street, Pocono Pines, in Tobyhanna Township.

Police said about 10:55 a.m. officers were called to that area to a report of a man who had threatened a male neighbor with a gun. On location it was determined that John Fischer, 57, had been heard and seen in the street acting strangely near his home. A neighbor went to check on him and upon making contact with Fischer, the suspect allegedly began to berate the neighbor and then threatened him by pointing a .380-caliber handgun at the neighbor.

The victim returned to his home and called police. Fischer continued to yell at the neighbor and his family before entering a wooded area. When police arrived Fischer came out of the woods and was taken into custody. A .380-caliber handgun was found in Fischer's home.

He was charged with aggravated and simple assault and firearms violations. He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.
