Melba Harleman celebrates 90th birthday

Melba Schafer Harleman, a resident of Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bangor, celebrated her 90th birthday on Aug. 27.

Melba lived in North Weissport and Lehighton before moving to the Effort/Brodheadsville area in 1954.

She has two daughters, Sandra Altemose and her husband Bill of Effort; and Brenda Dorshimer and her husband Bob of Kunkletown; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A birthday celebration was held in her honor on Aug. 7. Melba's brother, Ronald and his wife, Grace of Pottstown; her brother Donald and his friend Donna of Perkiomenville; and Miriam, wife of her late brother Carl, were among the guests.
