Tamaqua driver in Walker crash

Published December 02. 2011 05:01PM

A Tamaqua driver was involved in a crash in Walker Township. State police at Frackville said the accident occurred about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, along Clamtown Road, at the entrance to the American Premium Coal Company.

Troopers said Peter Bieniek, 42, was operating a 1998 Dodge Ram truck eastbound when he said a deer entered the road in front of him. He attempted to avoid the animal with his truck leaving the road on the left side and hitting a business sign for American Premium, then struck the entrance gate of the firm's property.

Bieniek sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment, troopers said. Damages were termed heavy to the front end of the Dodge.
