Monroe businesses hit with liquor violations

The state Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has charged two East Stroudsburg establishments with violating the law.

JPJO LLC, of 5005 Poole Rd., Smithfield Township, issued checks or drafts in payment for purchases of malt or brewed beverages when they had insufficient funds in or credit with, the institution from which the checks or drafts were drawn.

Neip's Inc. (Shorty's Place), 59-63 Crystal St., sold alcoholic beverages after their hotel liquor license expired on Sept. 30.

The businesses could be fined from $50 to $5,000 depending on the severity of offense. They could also lose their licenses, and their owners/employees could be required to undergo training.
