Bald tire blamed for accident

A bald tire was a contributing factor to a one vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in Schuylkill County, state police at Frackville said.

Troopers said Jennifer L. Swope, 25, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on Mountain Road about 7:25 a.m. when she lost control as she attempted to pass another vehicle.

The vehicle began to spin clockwise and slid off the right side of the road and struck a tree. It then slid down a steep embankment where it came to rest.

Swope was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. Troopers said she was cited for tire equipment and traction surfaces violation.
