Successful event the result of many volunteers

Published December 17. 2011 09:01AM

Dear Editor:

I am taking a moment to acknowledge the hard work of many people involved with the recent Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club Breakfast with Santa event held at the Lehighton Recreational Center.

Approximately 200 people attended the breakfast and enjoyed a breakfast of waffles and sausage. Children dropped off their letters to Mrs. Claus and then visited with Santa where they received early Christmas gifts.

Thank you to Alicia Schutack-Silliman and the committee members for organizing the event. Thank you to Mr. Corey Schaeffer for his generous donation, to Brenda Green for her artistic talents with Santa's backdrop, and to the Richard Anthony family for organizing the beautiful Christmas decorations for additional holiday pictures.

Thank you to Pamela Gothard for enlisting the help of local DJ, The Doctor, and to Carbon Model Railroad Society for the train display. We could not have had this event without the help of Jane Longazel and the boys from Concern Treatment Center.

Finally, thank you to Ed Dudley as our special guest.

A special thanks to the multiple departments from the Blue Mountain Health System that donated absolutely beautiful gift baskets for the auction, and volunteered their time to assist with the event as well.

I feel proud to have been a part of such a successful community event that came together with the assistance of many hands.
