Hope of Christ

The Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, will hold its Christmas Eve candlelight service on Saturday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m.

St. Paul Lutheran

St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will hold its Christmas service on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. The Rev. Carl Schweitzer, a retired pastor from Lehighton, will be the guest preacher.

A Christmas Day service will be held at 9 a.m. at St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford.

St. Joseph Church

In conjunction with the Christmas season, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has announced its seasonal schedule of services as follows:

Confessions: Thursday, Dec. 22 - after the 5 p.m. Mass until 7 p.m.; and Friday, Dec. 23 - 6:30-8 p.m.

Christmas Mass schedule: Saturday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve - 4 and 9 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day - 9 a.m.

Feast of the Holy Family: Friday, Dec. 30 - 9 a.m.

New Year's Eve: Feast of Mary, the Mother of God - Mass at 4 p.m.

New Year's Day, Jan. 1: Masses at 9 and 11 a.m.

Looking for yearbook

The Summit Hill Historical Society is looking for a copy of a 1954 yearbook for the former Summit Hill High School. If anyone is willing to donate one to the society's museum, they can call Maxine Vermillion, president, (570) 645-9772. The museum will be relocating in January to West Ludlow Street to the site of the former Jean McFadden's Store.

Winter parking

Chief Joseph Fittos Jr. of the Summit Hill Police Department has announced winter parking regulations in the borough that went into effect on Dec. 1.

Under borough ordinance, all vehicles parked on East White Street, between Spruce and Pine streets, and all vehicles parked on West White Street, between Poplar and Coal streets, must be parked facing west. These rules will be enforced through March 31.

In addition, borough law requires between Dec. 15 and March 15, all boats, trailers and campers must be off borough streets. Violators will be fined and the units will be towed off the streets at the owners' expense.

Lansford

St. John Lutheran

A special "Blue"/Quiet Christmas Service will be held tonight at St. John Lutheran at 7 p.m. This service is for those who are grieving or who have heavy hearts during this time of the year. This will be a quiet, meditative, special worship service with special music, scripture, silent reflection, healing prayer and Holy Communion.

Nesquehoning

Water authority meeting

A special meeting of the Nesquehoning Water Authority will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. to discuss the audit and budget.
