Palmeron girls get Colonial victory
The Palmerton girls were the only area winner in Friday's scholastic basketball action.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Northwestern-Bangor
Bangor defeated Northwestern in a battle of unbeatens, 40-34.
A slow start was responsible for the Tigers' Colonial League setback as the Slaters raced out to a 15-6 first quarter edge and then held on down the stretch.
Morgan McCollian and Sam Hopkins both had 11 points for Bangor.
For Northwestern (5-1 overall, 3-1 CL), Trista Cunningham had 11 points.
Bangor remains undefeated at 5-0.

Pen Argyl-Palmerton
Palmerton pulled out a Colonial League win over Pen Argyl, 33-25.
The Bombers defense played a huge role in the victory as it held Pen Argyl to just 11 points through three frames.
Palmerton (4-2) was led by Kelsey Hay's game-high 17 points. Jade Farquhar added eight points.

Bangor utilized some strong first half defense and a high powered offense to take down Northwestern in Colonial League action, 71-38.
The Slaters' Kerry Reider lit it up for 23 points to lead all scorers.
For Northwestern, Tyler Richardson hit three triples to lead the way with nine.

Pen Argyl took advantage of a slow first half by Palmerton, pulling out to an 18-point halftime lead, before holding on for a 64-55 Colonial League win.
Kyle Muller and Austin Bender both scored 17 points to lead the Green Knights.
Matt Leaver scored 18 points to lead Palmerton (1-4; 0-4). Cody Geist added 15 points and Tyler Svetik chipped in 11.
