Lamb stolen in Mahoning
Mahoning Township Chief of Police Ken Barnes said his department is investigating several incidents, including the theft of a lamb.
The theft occurred between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday.
Police said a 70-year-old Walnutport man rents a barn and 11 acres of property on Lower Nis Hollow Drive. He reported to police Tuesday morning that the lamb had been stolen from a barn. It has an approximate value of $75.
Retail theft: On Friday, Jan. 14, at about 2:37 p.m., police were summoned to the Wal-Mart Super Center for a report that loss prevention agents had two females in custody for alleged retail theft. The two females attempted to leave the store without paying for $294.79 worth of merchandise. Arrested and charged with retail theft were Cindy Lopez, 27, of Lansford Court, and Theresa Perez, 31, of East Bertsch Street, both of Lansford.
Retail theft: On Saturday, Jan. 15, at about 8:07 p.m., police were summoned to Wal-Mart for a report of retail theft. A loss prevention agent said a female was in custody for attempting to leave the store without paying for $26.39 worth of merchandise. Arrested and charged with retail theft was Emily Kehl, 18, of West Kline Avenue, Lansford.
Fraud-Identity theft: On Wednesday, Jan. 19, at about 1:45 p.m., a resident of Rex's Road went to the police headquarter and reported being the victim of fraud and identity theft. The victim, when filing an application for a re-mortgage, discovered when a credit history was done that person(s) unknown in April of 2007 opened up a Citibank account and ran up a debt of $8,278, which was never paid.
The victim was supplied with a Mahoning Township Police Department Identity Theft Packet, which provides information to victims of these types of crimes information and resources to assist them with creditors and credit reporting agencies, etc.
DUI: On Thursday, Jan. 20, at about 6 p.m., police were alerted via information being broadcast from the Carbon County Telecommunications Center of a possible DUI driver. Information was that a silver Mercury was being driven erratically along Rt. 209 and the trunk of the car was open.
A Mahoning Township police officer observed the car in the 700 block of North First Street (Rt. 209). Police said the driver failed several field sobriety tests, was taken into custody. He submitted to chemical testing of his blood, which has been sent to a lab to determine his exact BAC.
Charged via a criminal complaint summons with DUI and related offenses is Donald Arthur Reese, 39, of West Broadway Jim Thorpe.
