Monroe crash
State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash along a Monroe County roadway over the weekend. Troopers are also investigating a hit and run accident.
Troopers said about 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, Nicole Schlack, 22, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 1997 Buick Century northbound on Mountain Drive, in Ross Township, when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a tree head-on. After impact the car spun clockwise and came to rest in the southbound lane.
Schlack was not injured. She was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed and immediate notice of accident to police.
The hit and run occurred along Ross Road in Ross Township on Friday, Jan. 21, and reported at 5 p.m. Troopers said a driver was negotiating a sharp left curve while southbound when the vehicle slid on the ice and struck a mailbox along the west shoulder. After impact the vehicle slid again and then struck a street sign. After the impact with the street sign the driver fled the scene.
