Published February 08. 2011 05:00PM

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 1:53 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6, along Mexico Road, in Pine Grove Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Chad Maidenford, 24, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck eastbound and was texting on his cellular phone. The truck went onto the north berm, traveled about 70 feet in the snow before colliding into a utility pole.

Maidenford was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then taken to the barracks for a breath test. He will be charged with DUI and summary offenses, troopers said.
