Assault arrest in Tamaqua

A Tamaqua man will be cited following an altercation at his home on Jan. 19.

Officers were dispatched to 31 N. Railroad St., at 11:50 p.m. for a reported assault. At the scene they spoke with Eric Craigle, of 33 N. Railroad St. Craigle said he went to the neighbor's home for help after he was attacked by William David Lee, 35, also of 33 N. Railroad St. The two men had been arguing over a rent payment when Lee allegedly struck Craigle repeatedly about the head and face. Lee left the scene before officers arrived.

Craigle had visible contusions, abrasions and hematomas on his head and was transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, in the Tamaqua Community Ambulance. He was later transferred to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, as a precautionary measure due to his hemophilia.

Lee is being cited with simple assault, simple assault attempt to menace and harassment.
