Two arrested at Carbon inn
Two persons were arrested at a Carbon County inn. State police at Lehighton said the arrests occurred about noon on Feb. 8 at the Mahoning Inn located along SR443 in Lehighton.
Troopers said in the course of an unrelated investigation troopers learned that Amanda Lynn Longenbach, 23, of 55 Fairyland Rd., Lehighton, was a possible witness. A wants and warrants check revealed that Longenbach had an outstanding arrest warrant for felony retail theft out of Carbon County and a probation violation out of Fayette County.
The investigation revealed that Longenbach was residing at the Mahoning Inn with Luis Angel Vargas, 38, of 135 N. Eighth St., Allentown. Troopers went to the inn and made contact with Vargas inside a motel room. Longenbach was found hiding in the bathroom of the room.
A search of the room revealed drug paraphernalia and a large amount of U.S. currency which was seized. Vargas was placed under arrest and charged with drug violations.
Longenbach was taken into custody on the outstanding warrants and turned over to Carbon County sheriff deputies.
Troopers also noted that Longenbach's three year old son and one year old daughter were in the room and ultimately turned over to their biological father.
