Seniors celebrate Valentine's Day in Lehighton

The oldest members of the Lehighton Senior Center were named Valentine King and Queen during the annual Valentine party. John A. Warkala, 91, and Lena Kreidler, 94, were dressed in a cape and crown. He received a mug full of candy, a heart-shaped box of candy and a cash gift, while she received a chocolate rose, a heart-shaped box of candy and a cash gift. The couple reigned as 2011 Valentine King and Queen for the rest of the day. Seniors 60 and older may participate in the center's activities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each weekday.
