Monroe man facing assault charge
A Monroe County man is facing a charge of simple assault following an incident that occurred earlier this week. It was one of several incidents and arrests reported by Pocono Mountain Regional police.
About 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, officers were dispatched to meet a juvenile male at the PenMart along SR940. At the scene the 17-year-old told officers that he had been assaulted by his stepfather, identified as Alfred Lutz, 47, of 2 Hemlock Drive, Pocono Pines. The teen said the two had a disagreement and Lutz punched him in the face. Police said the teen was bleeding from his nose and was taken to the hospital by his mother.
Police went to the Lutz residence and placed him under arrest for simple assault and harassment. He was later arraigned before a district judge and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
On Wednesday, Feb. 16, about 9:27 p.m. officers were called to 2867 Fairhaven Drive, in Tobyhanna, for a reported domestic incident. Upon arrival a 19-year-old female told officers her boyfriend, identified as Armani Aiken, 19, of that address, had struck her numerous times in the face.
Aiken was found in the kitchen holding a knife to his chest. Aiken then began to light matches and started setting objects on fire in the kitchen.
Officers were able to talk Aiken into giving up the knife. The fires were extinguished and he was taken into custody and transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a psychological evaluation. He later signed himself into the hospital, police said. Charges are pending against Aiken, police added.
Also on Wednesday, about 5:36 p.m., officers responded to 633 Cricket Lane, Pocono Summit, for a report of a disorderly male yelling and dancing on a car. The male was identified as Salvator Dorsa, 52, of Pocono Summit.
Through an investigation police learned that Dorsa was dancing on a vehicle and yelling at a neighbor to fight. Dorsa was taken into custody and charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.
