Woman arrested for prostitution
The Schuylkill County District Attorney's office announced another arrest has been made in the ongoing investigation of two massage parlors which were operating as a prostitution business.
Tara Lynn Schmehl, 36, of 2455 Fairview Ave., Mount Penn, Berks County, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 15. She was arraigned before District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, on charges of prostitution and related offenses along with criminal solicitation. She was released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 24 before Plachko.
Last week detectives from the district attorney's office, and state police, converged on the two massage parlors, Spa 61, located along SR61 between Pottsville and Schuylkill Haven in the former state police barracks, and Aroma Spa located on south side of SR61 south of Schuylkill Haven.
Arrested during the raid and charged with prostitution and criminal solilcitation stemming from the Aroma Spa was Sunja Song, 31, Reading. She was arraigned by on-call District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. At the time of her arrest DA James P. Goodman said additional warrants had been issued by District Judge David A. Platchko, of Port Carbon, for three other females, one working at Aroma and two at Spa 61.
Schmehl was one of the three police are seeking in connection with the investigation. Schmehl was working at Spa 61, police said.
