Nesquehoning
Choir practice
Choir practice will be held on Wednesday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Nesquehoning. Interested parishioners are welcome to take part in practicing for Lent, Easter, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
Lansford
Transmission bills
As a convenience to the residents of the Borough of Lansford, the annual sewer transmission bills can be paid at the First Niagara Bank, 13 W. Ridge St., Lansford, until March 15.
The borough is also collecting the bills in its administrative office at 26 E. Patterson St. and through mail service.
Parish retreat
St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, is planning a parish retreat for Sunday through Tuesday, March 20-22. The days will consist of adoration, talks, evening Masses and confessions.
The retreat will be under the direction of the Sisters of the Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Borough meetings
The Lansford Borough Council will hold two committee meetings on Monday, Feb. 28. The Public Safety Committee will meet at 6:30, followed by a meeting of the Public Works Committee at 7:30. Both sessions will take place in the Lansford Community Center, 1 W. Ridge St.

Services and activities at First Congregational Church for the week of Feb. 17 are as follows:
Sunday, Feb. 27: 9 a.m. Morning Worship with celebration of St. David's Day; 10 a.m. Sunday School for all ages; 12:30 p.m. Confirmation Class.
Tuesday, March 1: St. David's Day, 7 p.m. Women's Class.
Wednesday, March 2: Nursing home visits, 11 a.m. St. Luke's Geriatric Center; 1:30 p.m. MapleShade; 6:30 p.m. choir rehearsal.
Sunday, March 6: 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School; 12:30 p.m. Confirmation Class.
Summit Hill
St. Paul Lutheran
The "Doughnut Nite" festivities that had been planned for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Tuesday, March 8, have been canceled.
The congregation will hold a church council meeting that night at 7 o'clock.
Food distribution
The Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food boxes to the needy in town on a monthly basis. Drop-offs are usually made on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Little Angels
Little Angels Pre-School, a division of Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, is accepting registrations for the 2011-2012 school year. The school offers a 3-year old program (half days, two days per week) and a 4-year old program (three days per week with a full day option).
