Retail theft arrests in Mahoning
On Feb. 23 at 3:22 p.m., Mahoning Township police were dispatched to the Wal-Mart Super Center for a report of a female in custody by loss prevention agents for retail theft and that she was combative.
Upon arrival, police arrested one Tiffany Elizabeth Martin, 30, of the 100 block of West Broadway, Jim Thorpe. She had attempted to leave the store without paying for $47.14 worth of merchandise.
When detained by loss prevention agents and in the loss prevention office she pushed, shoved and struck one of the loss prevention agents. The assault was captured by a video surveillance camera, police said. Martin was charged with retail theft, simple assault and disorderly conduct. She was arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis, Jim Thorpe, and remanded to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of posting 10 percent of $5,000 bail.
Later that same day, at 5:47 p.m., police were again called to the store on a report of two females in custody for retail theft. Police arrived and arrested two juvenile females, ages 15 and 16, for retail theft. They both attempted to leave the store without paying for over $50 in merchandise. Both were brought back to the police station, cited for retail theft and their parents were notified.
