Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways, both occurring on Friday, Feb. 25.

A tractor trailer rig crashed about 7:30 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. Troopers said Jonathan Mader, 46, of Duncannon, Perry County, was driving a 2010 Volvo tractor with trailer southbound when the rig left the road for unknown reasons and onto the berm where it rolled over and came to rest.

Mader was not injured but the tractor had to be towed. Troopers said Mader was cited for the crash.

The second mishap occurred about 8:55 a.m. along Little Mountain Road, in Union Township. Troopers said Brent L. Troy, 21, of Ringtown, was driving a 2004 Nissan Titan eastbound and rounding a curve when it traveled over a patch of ice. Troy lost control of the vehicle which left the road and struck a tree in a wooded area off the north side. After impact with the tree the vehicle rolled over once and came to rest on its wheels.

Troy, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries and transported himself to St. Catherine's Hospital, Ashland, trooper said.
