Carbon break-in

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a burglary that occurred at a Carbon County residence. It was one of two break-ins probed by troopers.

Troopers said the home of Steven Sparrow, 41, of 89 Pocahontas Lane, Mount Pocahontas, Albrightsville, Penn Forest Township, was entered via an unsecured sliding rear door. Once inside the criminals removed a toilet with mounting hardware and a three-quarter roll of toliet paper; a Range microwave; kitchen sink faucet; and window curtains from the living room. Total estimated value of the missing items was set at $400.

The incident occurred sometime between Dec. 4 and 30, troopers said.

The second break-in occurred at the residence of Thad Gilmore, 41, of 2872 Allegheny Drive, Tannersville, Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Forced entry was made to the residence. Removed was a washer, stove, refrigerator and various copper piping. The incident occurred sometime between Dec. 29 and 31.
