Carbon teen facing assault charge
A Carbon County teen is facing a charge of simple assault following an incident that occurred about noon on Dec. 27 in Penn Forest Township.
State police at Fern Ridge said Michael Wakefield, 18, and a 20-year-old female, both of Albrightsville, got into a physical altercation at the time and date stated. Wakefield allegedly attacked the female and physically assaulted her by punching her in the face and beating her on the head with a phone.
Wakefield fled the scene prior to the arrival of troopers. An arrest warrant was obtained for his arrest.
On Dec. 29 about 2 p.m. Wakefield was apprehended near his residence in the woods after fleeing officers.
