One person was killed and another seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday, Jan. 1, in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Crystal M. Staber, 20, of Lebanon, was southbound on Toll road, a quarter-mile north of Laurel Road, in Effort, Chestnuthill Township, about 6 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle left the roadway along the berm and struck several trees. The vehicle ended up on the east side of the road in a ditch facing west.
