Marian, Nolehi, Tamaqua girls roll
Marian, Northern Lehigh and Tamaqua all came away with girls basketball wins over the weekend.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
NDGP-Marian
The Fillies utilized some tough defense to stifle the Lady Crusaders and pull out the 38-19 non-league win.
Marian led 13-6 at the break and limited Notre Dame to a sole point in the fourth period to triumph.
Marian was led in scoring by Danielle Tristani's nine points in the win.

Pius X-No. Lehigh
The Lady 'Dawgs came out of the gates strong and went up 32-10 on Pius X, and continued the rest of the game in the same manner, on their way to a 93-37 non-league win.
Sonya Josephson and Aimee Oertner continued to be the scoring threats they are, as they both scored 35 points in the win.
For Pius, Britney Williams had 18 and Jaclyn Smith chipped in 14 in the losing effort.
NL also won the JV contest with a 30-25 win.

Tamaqua-Hazleton
The Lady Raiders (10-0), darted out to a 13-4 lead after one frame and held on the rest of the way for the 41-31 non-league win over Hazleton.
Amy Zehner ripped the nets for the locals for a game-high 21 points, while also pulling down 17 rebounds. Teammate Cassie Eroh chipped in with ten points, while Ali Updike had ten rebounds.
For the hosts, both Janielle Ziminski and Rebecca Zamonas had 10 points in the losing effort.
Hazleton prevented the sweep with a 42-21 preliminary win.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Marian-Pius X
After rallying to tie the game up in the second quarter, Pius X's James Cooper hit three treys in the frame to help his team regain control and eventually pull away for the 54-48 win over the Colts.
Marian's Chris Barletta led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, but was the sole Colt to reach double digits.
For Pius (6-3), Jay Maletz had 16, while Caleb Knudsen added 15 and Cooper eleven.
Marian won the JV contest, 50-40 with Eric Swankoski scoring 20.

Trailing by seven after three frames, Northwestern was outscored 19-6 in the final eight minutes to drop a non-league contest to Blue Mountain, 53-33.
Matt LaScala poured in 20 points for the Eagles.

The Spartans broke away to take an 11-point lead in the final period, but had to go to the free throw line to pull out a 33-31 non-league win over the Bombers.
Palmerton's Tyler Svetik's three-pointer with 48 seconds to go tied it at 31-31, but the Spartans' Ryan Cicioni sank two free throws with six seconds remaining to win it.
Jourdan Reinhart had a game-high 11 points for the Bombers.
North Schuylkill also won the JV game, 45-25.

Shenandoah Valley jumped out early and never looked back to post a 57-25 Schuylkill League cross-over win against visiting Weatherly.
Josh Dombrosky led the Blue Devils with 14 points, while Blaise Breslosky and Jordan Mays followed with 12 and 11 respectively.
Cory Rowan and Joe Haganey tied for a Wreckers-high with five points.
Shenandoah Valley won the JV game, 60-55. Weatherly's Brett Stallone scored a team-high 16 points.
