Tamaqua and Marian picked up girls basketball victories on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tamaqua-Panther Valley

Tamaqua received a combined 46 points from Amy Zehner and Cassie Eroh and went on to defeat host Panther Valley, 55-33, in a Schuylkill League Division I match-up.

The Lady Raiders remained unbeaten at 11-0, clinching a District 11 Class AAA playoff berth.

Zehner scored a game-high 27 points, while Eroh added 19. Together they scored 16 of the Raiders' 20 third-quarter points.

Madison Blasko led Panther Valley (2-8, 0-5) with nine points.

Tamaqua also won the JV contest, 33-21.

Lourdes-Marian

Gillian Ferko and Danielle Tristani each scored in double figures to help Marian post a key 35-25 Schuylkill League victory over Lourdes.

Ferko was the high-scorer on the night with 11 points. Tristani poured in 10 to help in the win.

The victory improves the Fillies' record to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Tri-Valley-Weatherly

Up just four points after the first quarter, Tri-Valley ran away from the Wreckers over the final three periods to post a 63-28 Schuylkill League victory.

Tracy Galada led the Wreckers (2-8, 1-5) with eight points.

Tri-Valley took the JV game, 28-18.

Pocono Mountain West pulled away from Pleasant Valley in the fourth quarter and went on to win, 40-31 in Mountain Valley Conference play.

The Panthers' Ramona Bunitez led all scorers with 17 points.

Kelecia Harris and Meghan Hardy each scored eight points to lead the Bears (6-4).

SWIMMING

Blue Mt.-Panther Valley

Blue Mountain swept Panther Valley in its Schuylkill League swim meet Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Panthers put forth a good team effort, but came up short 86-71. Karoline Vavra (50 Free and 100 Free) and Alexia Follweiler (200 IM and 100 Fly) each won two events for the locals. Teammate Brittany Erbe took home the 500 Free. All three were also members of the winning 200 Medley team.

Michael Sloboda was the lone multi-winner on the boys' side. He won the 50 and 100 Free races. Fellow Panther Jason Gates added a win in the 200 Free race.

The Blue Raiders (9-3) were led by Michael Weinert's 11 points and Adam Bates' nine points.

Weatherly-Hazleton Silver

Hazleton Silver pulled out a tight victory over Weatherly, 74-70.

Tyler Sipler scored 34 in the loss for Weatherly.

8TH GRADE

Tamaqua-Shenandoah

Tamaqua routed Shenandoah, 60-23.

Brett Kosciolek led the Blue Raiders with 14 points.

PM West-Pleasant Valley

Isaiah Johnson scored 21 points and helped Pleasant Valley knock off Pocono Mt. West, 42-36.

Elijah Gonzalez and Brian Joseph each added seven in the win.
