A Luzerne County driver was jailed in Monroe County following a traffic stop. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the stop was made about 12:11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, SR611 at Bill's Shop Rite Plaza, in Mt. Pocono.

Police said a Oldsmobile sedan was observed speeding at the above location and a traffic stop was made. The driver was identified as Heather Ruffs, 35, of Freeland. She was found to be under the influence, police said. Also observed in the vehicle was a container of a alcoholic beverage and a multi-colored glass pipe which was found to contain marijuana residue.

Ruff failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. While making a routine identification check it was learned that Ruff had an outstanding warrant for her arrest in Northampton County for DUI. She was taken into custody and placed in the county prison in Snydersville on the warrant.

Pocono police charged her with DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
