Marian boys and girls, Lady Wreckers win

The Marian boys and girls both picked up wins on the hardwood on Monday night, while the Weatherly girls won their second game in a row.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Pius X-Marian

Marian avenged a loss from earlier in the month by defeating Pius X at home, 61-50 in non-league play.

Chris Barletta led the Colts (10-3) with a game-high 22 points, including 14 in the first half. Teammate Ryan Gimbi added 16.

Marian won the JV game as well, 44-18.

Southern Lehigh used a 24-point second quarter to run away from Lehighton, 81-55 in non-league play.

Alex Guyn netted 12 points to lead the Indians. D.J. Rossino added nine.

The Spartans also took the JV contest, 50-31.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

A slow start by the Lady Indians put them 10 points down by halftime and they never recovered in a 53-42 loss to Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg.

Jordyn Homyak had a game high 24 points for Lehighton, while Angelica Bertola scored a team-high 19 points and Amanda Smith added 17 for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame also won the JV game, 53-31.

Marian-Williams Valley

Gabby Green, Kim Wilson and Danielle Tristani each scored 10 points and helped lead Marian past Williams Valley, 62-19.

Green connected on three triples, while Wilson and Tristani each hit two treys.

The Fillies' Gillian Ferko added nine, while Kaycee Gutsie helped out with eight.

Panther Valley-Pine Grove

Pine Grove jumped out to a 29-9 halftime lead and never looked back, as the Cardinals beat up on Panther Valley 58-20.

The Cardinals had three players score in double figures and were led by Kaylin Ryan's 15 points.

MaryJane Thomas was the Panthers' leading scorer with seven points.

Weatherly-Schuylkill Haven

Erin Dougherty converted on two free throws with nine seconds left to give Weatherly a Schuylkill League cross-over victory over Schuylkill Haven, 29-28.

Dougherty finished with six points on the night. The Wreckers (4-7, 2-4) were led by Alicia Panzarella's 10 points.

Weatherly's JV also won, 36-8.

Tamaqua defeated Mahanoy Area, 49-33.

Tamaqua was led by Brett Kosciolek's 15 points. Zach Wargula and Bo Rottet added ten and eight points respectively.
