Coaldale man arrested for kicking girlfriend

Published January 19. 2011 05:00PM

Coaldale police have arrested a borough man who allegedly kicked his girlfriend 10 to 15 times in the legs while wearing heavy boots.

Robert Joseph Anderson, 31, faces charges of domestic violence, simple assault and harassment stemming from the incident.

Police Chief Tim Delaney said Wednesday that he responded to a call at 236 East St. at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 12.

Anderson admitted to having drunk a few cans of beer after Delaney noticed the alcohol on his breath. Anderson also admitted he was aware of a protection-from-abuse order that the victim had taken out against him.

Anderson said the victim, who lives in New Philadelphia, had come over to his father's house.

Anderson was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua and released on his own recognizance.

The victim, who had her two children, ages 9 and 6, with her, was taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for treatment of leg injuries.

While Delaney was handing the domestic violence incident, he saw that Anderson's brother, Laverne Anderson, was at the house. Laverne Anderson, it turned out, was wanted on warrants.

He was picked up and taken to Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville.
