Monroe driver facing charges
A Monroe County driver is facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and drug counts following a vehicle stop that occurred about 8:13 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said Peter Groome, 63, of Pocono Lake, was stopped for speeding along SR940 westbound for going 61 miles-per-hour in a 45 zone.
At the stop police were notified that the vehicle was reported stolen. Groome was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed a large amount of marijuana, pills and various drug paraphernalia. Groome was found to be under the influence and transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.
Police said he will be charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possesion of drug paraphernalia and DUI of a controlled substance.
