Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met June 28 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 45 members in attendance. Two guests, Allison Romaneck and Zachary Beavers were welcomed.
President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Shirley Becker.
Birthday wishes were extended to Hub Becker, Melody Weicker, Helene Clouser and Thelma Caravello. Martin and Becker provided inspirational readings.
The group meets the second and fourth Monday of every month. Anyone 50 or older is welcome to join.
Financial seminar
Individuals and families will have the opportunity to learn ways to prepare for financial security as the Tamaqua Salvation Army offers a free preview of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Seminar. The free session will be held July 28, at 6 p.m. Participants will also be eligible for a free Financial Peace University membership.
Following the preview, regular classes will be held in September.
All sessions will be held at the Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St. For more information, or to register, call (570) 668-0410.
Seniors meet
The Tamaqua Seniors met June 30 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 89 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session.
Rose Valle provided the invocation, entitled, "Consider the Lilies." Reports were offered by vice president Doris Brobst and secretary Joan Anne Garber. Get well cards were sent to Margaret Matsago and Ruth Kemmerer. A sympathy card was sent to Jane Tartar.
The group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the community center. Every meeting is followed by social and pinochle games.
