June 2, 1979 A five-run fifth inning and an excellent pitching performance from Joe Rauscher carries Northwestern to a 6-2 win over Catasauqua in the quarterfinal round of the District 11 playoffs. Rauscher, who also collects three hits at the plate, allows just four hits and strikes out eight. The Tigers, coached by Mike Haberern, receive a solo homer from Keith Edsall and an RBI on a squeeze bunt by Ron Pierce.
