Schuylkill crash

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred about 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, along SR125 at Ferg Street in Tremont.

Troopers said Matthew G. Fidler, 19, of Pine Grove, was operating a 1992 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound and entering Tremont while George E. Smith, 77, of Branchdale, was operating a 2005 Dodge Neon southbound.

Troopers said Fidler failed to see Smith and attempted to make a left turn onto Ferg Street and pulled into Smith's path and a collision occurred.

After impact the Ford spun clockwise and came to rest facing north while the Dodge came to rest facing south at the point of impact.

The two drivers were not injured but Smith's wife, Rose A., 66, sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Troopers said Fidler was cited for causing the crash.
