Named to orchestra

Shane Mulligan, Sophomore Percussionist with the Tamaqua Area H.S. 'Raider' Band, was been selected to participate in the 2011 Pennsylvania Music Educators Region IV-V Orchestra Festival to be held at Manheim Township High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Shane plays percussion in all of the school's ensembles as well as Gabrielle Youth Symphony and substitutes occasionally with the Cressona Community Band during its summer season. The guest conductor for this festival is Dr. Jesus Manuel Berard who is the Director of Orchestral Studies at American University and Primary Conductor of the Washington DC Youth Orchestra Program. He is also a well-known conductor and music theorist in and around the Washington D.C. area.
