June 10, 1980 Sue Breininger tosses a four-hitter to help Northwestern earn a 3-1 victory over Octorora in the state playoffs at Shippensburg. The Tigers, coached by Hope Donnell, take control of the game by scoring two first-inning runs. Kelly Snyder, who walks, scores on Breininger's groundout while Rosie Jost, who also walks, races home on an error. Bonnie Kline's sacrifice fly in the second scores Arty Bonsell's with NW's third run. Breininger, who loses her shutout bid in the final frame, finishes with three strikeouts.
